Barça easily saw off the challenge of Almeria in a game that was virtually over after the first few minutes. Eto'o, with a hat-trick, Henry and Alves had between them notched up what would be the final score of 5-0 a mere 36 minutes into the game.
Just like with Atlético de Madrid and Basel, the lords of the goal once again made an early appearance. Barça was easily on top throughout the game and had virtually wrapped things up after 15 minutes at 2-0. By the 36th minute it was 5-0, with the goals scored by Eto'o (3), Henry and Alves.
The second half had little in it as Barça took its collective foot off the gas and Almeria, with only ten men on the pitch, were quite happy just to avoid conceding any more goals. Thus Guardiola’s men continue on their winning streak – now nine between the League and the Champions League – and are provisional League leaders.

Fast start
Once again Barça were too much for their opponents at the start of the game. They played fast, one-touch football in their opponent’s half as if it were the easiest thing in the world. Eto’o opened the scoring in the 5th minute after picking up a weak defensive header and slamming the ball home.
Eto'o hat-trick in 23 minutes
It only took ten minutes to get from 1-0 to 4-0. In those ten minutes Barça created three goals that were practically walked into the net such was the quality, accuracy and mobility of the players. Henry scored from close range after an assist from Messi (min 13), Eto'o slotted home after a brilliant through ball from Iniesta and sideways pass from Xavi (min 20) and the Cameroon striker then got his third with a back heel after a bit of individual genius by Messi (min 23).
Alves makes it five

Barça eased off at 4-0 ahead. A heavy challenge by Negredo on Márquez earned him a red card to leave Almeria with ten men on the park. Then Barça got a free kick some 30 yards out from goal, and Alves stepped up to send a low screamer past the wall and just inside the left-hand post to make it five before half-time.

Keep ball
The highlights of the second half came just after the restart when a long range effort by Guilherme rattled Valdès’s crossbar, and at the end when Eto'o almost took his personal tally to four. In between times Barça basically spent thirty five minutes playing keep ball as the ten Almeria players looked on nervously pinned in their own half.
In the second half Hleb, Bojan and Víctor Sánchez came on for Touré Yaya, Henry and Alves. All of them are now members of the side that’s scored the most goals in the League and in Europe.
